Myrrhis odorata is a hardy perennial that prefers well drained acidic soil. It will grow well in the shade, but can also cope with full sun. If given fertile conditions it reaches about 5 feet in height and almost as much across. Sweet Cicely may be grown from seed or by root cuttings. Established plants will often self seed.
